yeah Nov has been MIA. He can only get internet at work but most everything is blocked so you can still email him but I'm careful what I say in email in case they have a way of reading it so yeah he's trying to get something figured out so he can play again soon.

Good news though....FEARLESS is back!!!! :) When I told Creeper, he was like who's fearless? LoL...

I have at&t dsl with 5mg download with static ip. Cost $168.00 a month. Static is needed to run the Left4Dead server. Thats about the fastest dsl will get. If you can find a cable provider that is using fiber optics in your area then thats where you need to go. With fiber optics, they can go to 10mb at a reasonal price and your ping will always be extremely low. Bummer is that TimeWarner still hasn't strung it onto my poles but will tell customer they have it and charge them for it and HD tv but claim the converter boxes are on back order. I put up with the HP bullshit for a year and a 1/2 before I kicked them to the curb and got Direct TV. Problem with Direct Tv is that they want close to $200.00 a month for a 10mg static connection.

Just in case your don't know what this means, Static ip keeps the same ip address perminately where as Dynamic changes your address every time that add a new customer, reboot there router or when YOU turn your machine off and so when you turn it back on, it pings the router and grabs the nearest open port.

You could go with at&t's pro format with dynamic ip and be able to play with a normal ping. What these people are quoting you is steep compared to dsl, cable or satlite.

Here's at&t's quote for Los Angeles, CA

This is our top of the line product — one dynamic IP address at our highest speed available (up to 6.0 Mbps). Elite is perfect for supporting multiple-users, high-resolution graphics, large attachment uploads, desktop video, and even hosting a web site! You should know that there's hidden fees. They will bang you for a dedicated line and phone number that will run between $50.00 to $100.00 to set up. That also brings a seperate bill each month for that line that could run between $35.00 to $50.00. I was around $98.00 before I set up the dynamic ip. Had to reconfigue my router. 6mb will equal about 4mb download to the machine meaning that the feed starts at 6mb but once it passes through their router, your phone line and your router your packet loss kill around 2mb.

I would call Wild Blue up and tell them there a bunch of morons and hang up. I checked them out a while back and they are clueless. Asked them about dynamic ip and the village idiot didn't know what it was.

Direct Tv told me that it would cost me my car, all my furniture and my left nut to get their high speed set up with dynamic ip so I'm stuck for now.

Keep looking around. Call potential carriers and asked them questions like what the difference is between static and dynamic ip address. Ask them about actual connection speeds and packet loss. If they get stumped with any of these questions then hang up and move on to another one.

If you have a phone land line odds are that company has dsl with a decent connection rate that will get you back in the game at a affordible price.

Cheers

well if your ping is high around 280 (i'll just take it that you are like a foreigner playing) and won't kick you. A lot of the brits, frenchies, and others run about there in game so I only kick if it's much more than that.

Well have a nice vacation and hopefully you will find something decent enough to come back and play with us. I have a sneaking suspicion if you lag you will still kick our asses lol.
