It was quite a surprise to find another OldNSlo playing regularly on the same server. Somehow, I rode his coattails into CoD, so thanks for taking me. I believe Jack, Creeper, Trigger, and a couple of others were there when it happened.
I've noticed a lot of west coast players but I'm in Texas, so "Howdy".
Old had some good topics in his intro - I am still working, too - 39 years for Lockheed Martin and its ancestors - Loral and Ling Temco Vought (I never changed jobs). The wife and I just celebrated our 35th anniversary. We have two sons, 27 and 25. The older one is married to the most exhalted Daughter-in-Law.
I ride a '04 Suzuki V-Strom 650 ("Wee" Strom) and it is my primary means of transportation - to/from work and for fun.
I was an Age of Empires II player when my two sons got me interested (pestered me until I tried it) in CS back in the pre-steam days - v1.3 I think it was. We played on the gotmilf server until it went defunct (owner lost interst and his job). So I started my own 1.5 server co-located at a major internet hub in Dallas in 2002. It was pretty busy until Steam and 1.6 came on the scene and bunch of the players moved on to other games. The server is still up running CS:S but it has never caught on like the old one. The KIA clan seems to play/practice a lot there.
It is at: http://www.texasarlingtoncs.us/ (forum is pretty dead)
IP: 72.29.104.10:27015 for CS:S
I have been tinkering with the bot vs. human setup and have a Mattie event script I am testing out at times - it tries to assist or hinder the bot side based on win streaks. I based a bunch of my logic on play at Jack's server #2. Like 6 regular players vs. 21 bots makes a good match. The script adds/subtracts bots, changes difficukty and health if they are getting clobbered.
When it is running, it is at the same IP as above but a different port, usually 27017...
One thing I enjoy seeing are all the gals playing on the #2 server - from Old's intro it sounds like there are even more than I thought - I just know the "obvious" ones.
So, I enjoy playing with a good group of regulars. I was there when Mrs. Creeper went 100-0 - that was cool.
See you underneath where old guys rule!
(that wet spot on my shirt is NOT drool)
Dunno if I know too many "real" names but I go by "Chuck" if you need to use that...
:D
